Indigenous People: people that are native to an area, the original inhabitants
Tribal People: a subgroup of people with in the population or indigenous people, often of another culture
Self-determination: each group determines for itself its relationship to the larger society
Self-government: many definitions-from limited authority to near freedom, must be developed with the informed consent of the people
Aboriginal Reserves: areas created for the remaining native people when other societies took over, ex. The Native Americans of the US
Bedouin Problem: nomadic people being forced to settle under government pressure
Native American Reservations: an area belonging to and Indian tribe, some of which may be held in trust, does not fit into the civil divisions
